Training Programs with Avid Sport

Felix Young

Felix studied Sport & Exercise Science at the University of Bath, graduating in 2014. As part of his degree he completed a professional placement at Peak Centre for Human Performance in Vancouver, completing fitness assessments and training programmes for cyclists, runners and triathletes. This was an opportunity to learn a great deal about the practicalities of preparing and delivering training programs for a broad range of athletes; from ironman triathletes, through ultramarathon runners and cross country mountain bikers to road cyclists preparing for National Championships. Felix was praised for his technical knowledge as well as his informative and personable delivery, appropriate to all levels of athlete.

Felix has been involved with coaching as part of the British Cycling Talent Development pathway and has coached the University of Bath Cycling and Triathlon clubs, the British Cycling South Region team as well as the Avid Sport team itself. He has been able to develop the coaching infrastructure at these clubs to allow members to get the most out of their sport and to improve their performance in competition through from regional to international level. .

Avid Sport provides personalised training programs for cyclists, runners and triathletes. Grounded in Sport and Exercise knowledge as well as practical coaching experience, these programs will help you to train smarter and perform in competition. An important element of our programs is consulting with our athletes in order to help them understand why their training has the effects it does, so that we can help them develop an understanding of their bodies and how they respond to exercise.

Avid Sport’s personalised training programs are designed to get the most out of your training time. A key focus of the programs is collaboration with the athlete to create a plan that works for them and in doing so, helping the athlete to understand their training and how their plan was created. The plans are practical, to fit around the rest of an athletes life, as well as being grounded in sport and exercise science to tailor the athletes training to their specific goals and abilities.

Monthly Day-to-Day Training Program – Daily sessions detailed and described, tailored to your target events.

Consultation meetings – regular consultation meetings to discuss and explain your training in order to refine your program. 1 hour of contact time per month (online/face-to-face) in a flexible format around the needs of your training.

Instant messenger contact – Opportunities for feedback on your training and discuss specific details of your upcoming training.

Competition Calendar Preparation – Designing your season to help you prepare for your key targets.

Free Premium TrainingPeaks account – To help monitor and assess your training.

Technical

Quarterly Fitness Testing - Blood lactate analysis to monitor your training progress and identify strengths/weaknesses in your fitness profile.
